We have arrived in New England and are beginning to anticipate the beauty that awaits us.  Mid-morning finds us in the ruggedly beautiful state of Maine.  Riding along the picturesque coastline to Kennebunkport, we sneak a peak at President Bush's home, and have time for lunch and shopping. Continuing north, this afternoon we arrive in Booth Bay, one of the most scenic of all villages in the state. Our home for 2 nights will be the quaint Tug Boat Inn, overlooking the harbor and situated in the heart of the village.  The evening dinner is a highlight as we enjoy a traditional Lobster Bake, with all the trimmings, or a chance to sample other delicious choices from the hotel's restaurant. JUL 27...
We board Captain Fish's boat this morning for a special expedition,  a harbor cruise that passes the many spectacular vacation homes perched on the rocky cliffs. Witness the  lobster traps near the jutting rocks along this tranquil coastline. The afternoon is at leisure to relax and refresh in this peaceful setting, or perhaps take an optional whale watching excursion. This evening you are free to stroll into the many shops scattered around the bay, or walk across the bridge to the Fisherman's Co-op for some fresh steamed seafood on the docks.  (B)

JUL 28 ... Our trail winds its way along the rugged coastline to the isolated village of Bar Harbor.  Bar Harbor lies at the entrance of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, the largest rockbased island on the Atlantic Coast.  The beauty of the sea, mountains, lakes and woodlands have painted this region into a summer paradise.  We will tour this natural wonderland, seeing granite cliffs rising from the ocean, peaks bare at their summits, more varieties of wildflowers than can be counted, and CAdillac Mountain, the highest point along the Atlantic coast of the USA, rising 1530 feet above sea level.  There will be leisure time to browse the boutiques and artists stalls before we return to Booth Bay.  We will bravel to Bangor and enjoy dinner at the Weathervane with some delicious choices off the menu.
