SOUTHERN EXPOSURE

03/29/2010 - 04/02/2010

HIGHLIGHTS:   Silver Star Resort, Vicksburg Tour, Natchez Pilgrimage, Southern Exposure Show, Historic Natchez Pageant, New Orleans, The Beau Rivage,  & lots more ... 8 Meals

DAY 1  ... We depart on our way west and travel through Georgia and Alabama for an overnight in the Magnolia State of Mississippi. Our stay will be at the elegant  Silver Star Resort in Philadelphia.  Dinner included in the complex.  (D)

DAY 2 ... Our "Trail" heads north along the "Big Muddy", as we stop in historic Vicksburg. It was here that U.S. Grant captured this important river town in a siege of 1863 that opened up the Mississippi for Union control, and spelled doom for the South. Not far away is the quaint town of Natchez, situated along the Mississippi River and in the heart of the "cotton belt".  It was here in Natchez that so many of the cotton lords built their palatial homes.  At one time there were more millionaires living here than anywhere else in America. We spend two nights in Natchez, and tonight enjoy a dinner along the River.   Perhaps you would like to try an area favorite...catfish.  Then its off to the refreshing performance of  "Southern Exposure". (B,D)

DAY 3 ... Everyone enjoys a full breakfast before we meet our guide for a narrated tour of some of the mansions and ante bellum homes in town and along the River. Our lunch will be a southern tradition, as we dine at the Carriage House Restaurant  which is in one of the beautiful historic homes in the center of Natchez.  Everyone will have time to stroll the historic lanes of the town, with its shops, boutiques, and museums before our special evening activity. Tonight is quite a highlight as we are guests for the  Historic Natchez Pageant, with fancy southern belles and uniformed gentleman amid a spectacle of floral displays, music, and color.  (B,L)

DAY 4...A short drive away as we follow the Mississippi south is New Orleans. This unique city still preserves its history, with such a colorful past of pirates, Spanish, French, Indian, and English influence.  Enjoy a sightseeing tour with narration of the French Quarter, the homes, the churches, and the interesting stories of this exciting area.  The afternoon is yours to enjoy along the riverfront, Bourbon Street, or in the French Quarter.  Later we travel to Biloxi for our last night of this trip at the beautiful Beau Rivage Resort & Casino along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.  (B,D)

DAY 5....We enjoy a full breakfast buffet before we load our deluxe motorcoach and travel back home after a lovely travel experience in the "Old South".  (B)
