NIAGARA FALLS, 1000 ISLANDS & FINGER LAKES

HIGHLIGHTS:  Niagara Falls,  Skylon Tower, Toronto,  1000 Islands Cruise, Finger Lakes of NY, Poconos, & lots more ... 13 Meals

 

SEP 9 ... The wonderful sights of Canada await us as we board our motorcoach for a journey across the Carolinas and into the Mountaineer State of West Virginia. Our home tonight is in Beckley with a Welcome Dinner. (D)

SEP 10 ... The trail across winding mountain roads add to the appreciation of the beauty of West Virginia, as we cross the New River Bridge, the tallest single arch structure in the world. Through Pennsylvania and New York we continue our drive in route to the Canadian border.  Once through customs, Niagara Falls is our destination for the next 2 nights. (B)

SEP 11 ... A local guide will meet us and host a very informative tour of the Falls and surrounding area. We will witness Niagara from different viewpoints, see the Floral Clock, visit the locks on Welland Canal, and learn of the rich history of this resort area. You will have the afternoon at leisure, to explore the village surrounding the Falls, take photos, shop, or try your luck in the casino. Tonight, experience a wonderful dinner atop Skylon Tower, a restaurant perched 775 feet above the base of the Falls.  (B,D)

SEP 12 ... A leisurely morning before we drive up to Niagara On The Lake for a lunch stop in this lakeside village. A short drive away is the bustling city of Toronto, as we travel to this interesting metropolis along the shores of Lake Ontario.  A tour of the city followed by dinner completes our day. (B,D)

SEP 13 ...  Traveling east across Ontario, we board an excursion boat for a cruise through the 1000 Islands Region... narrow passages filled with islands, some so small they can only hold a cabin, while others large enough for manor-style estates.  Crossing the border back into the USA,  we arrive in the tranquil countryside of the Finger Lakes area of New York state.  With its idyllic settings, lush vineyards, and clear lakes, it makes for a great destination.  (B,D)

SEP 14 ... We enjoy a cruise on one of the lakes, take a tour and tasting at a local winery, and then travel into the Poconos of Pennsylvania for the night.  (B,D)

SEP 15 ... Traveling south through the mountains, we stop in Hershey at Chocolate World. Skirting Harrisburg, state capital of Pennsylvania,  we begin our drive down the Shenandoah Valley. Apples should be abundant, so we will make a fruit stand stop. Our overnight accommodations will be in Roanoke with a Farewell Dinner and a chance to remember the many sights of the past days.  (B,D)

SEP 16 ... We return home today after a remarkable trip to the Niagara Falls, Toronto, and so much more. (B)
